Tumbling

4TH AND 8TH IN BULGARIA AND BELGIUM WORLD CUP

Charlie Burrows placed 4th in one of the highest calibre world cup finals of the year. World Champion Jieux Wang won the event with a new world record difficulty as well as a new world record score. Charlie performed 2 new runs in the finals which managed to lift him from his qualifying spot of 5th to finish 4th. The following week Charlie also qualified for another World Cup final where he attempted another new pass with 11.6 difficulty which unfortunately didn't go quite as well as planned causing an 8th place finish in a very difficult final.

WORLD AGE GROUP GAMES TEAM SELECTION - 4 IN GREAT BRITAIN TEAM

Pinewood had a fantastic day when the World Age Group team was announced with 4 of Pinewood's gymnasts in the team. Paige Clarke and Louisa Bellis were selected for the 13-14 women's age group finishing 2nd and 3rd after the 2 trials. Shaun Gregory finished 1st out of the 2 trials which confirmed his place in the team. Ryan dyer completed Pinewood's team qualifying 1st in the 15 - 16 men's category. The 17 - 18 age group and Senior team will be announced in September which Pinewood has 5 members trialing for.

5TH IN CHINESE WORLD CUP

Charlie Burrows achieved 5th place in the latest World Cup competition in Kunshan, China. This makes him move up the ranking lists into 33rd to 17th position after the first 3 world cups of the season and he hopes that he can gain more valuable points in Bulgaria and Belgium at the end of June.

BRITISH TUMBLING CHAMPIONSHIPS 2007

Pinewood had a very successful championships bringing home 1 Gold, 2 Silvers and 2 Bronzes. Emily Marsden Payne showed her class in the youngest 8 - 10 age group where she became British Champion. Paige Clarke followed her success by placing 2nd in the 13 - 14 category. Ryan Dyer achieved the bronze medal in the 15 - 16 men's age group and in the Senior Men's British Championships Pinewood obtained the Silver and Bronze medals with Stephen Newey and Charlie Burrows. Congratulations to all competitors.

The prelims of the competition also served as the 1st trial for the World Championships and the International Age Group Games. Pinewood have 3 gymnasts who could potentially make the World Championship team and a further 7 in the international age group games. The 2nd and final trial is on April 21st.

9th and 5th in World Cup Series

Charlie Burrows recently placed 9th at the Tumbling World Cup in Lake Placid, USA. After struggling on his first pass he managed to achieve the 4th highest 2nd pass in order to finish reserve for the final. The following week he also competed in the Tumbling World Cup in Quebec City, Canada. Charlie managed to qualify in 3rd place behind the 2005 World Champion and Bronze Medallist. In the finals Charlie had some problems in his first run but still was able to finish in 5th position.

 

 

Women's Artistic

COMPULSORY NATIONAL LEVEL 3 & 4 FINALS

In a very tough and daunting completion Emily Golding competed as a member of the South region level 4 team which finished 8th in the country. As an individual Emily finished 43rd out of 70 gymnasts. She competed very well and she Pinewood congratulates her on reaching the National Championships.

REGIONAL COMPULSORY GRADES 18TH MARCH, BASINGSTOKE

EMILY GOLDING BRONZE MEDALLIST LEVEL 4

Congratulations to Emily Golding who finished 3rd in the regional compulsory grades championships. In doing this she has qualified for he National Finals in May where she will represent the southern region. Beth McKellar competed in the compulsory 3 section where she finished a very respectable 9th and passed her grade.

BERKSHIRE COUNTY CLUB GRADES 11TH MARCH, PHOENIX

KATIE REED GRADE 6 COUNTY CHAMPION

Katy Peden 5th Place Grade 6

All girls passed their Grades with distinction and all had a fantastic competition. Katie Reed managed to win her category with a convincing margin, with Katie Peden competing brilliantly to achieve 5th place and pass with distinction. In grade 5 even with 2 falls from beam Olyvia Hall placed 2nd by the smallest margin possible, 0.05!! Congratulations to all of them!

Congratulations on everyone who competed at the Alex Strachen Competition on 3rd/4th March. Pinewood walked away with a fantastic set of results. Well done to Coaches Sarah Webber and Kirstie Rawlinson.

NEWCASTLE OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Pinewood Gymnastics Club sent it's Junior and Primary Women's teams to the Newcastle Open. The girls had a fantastic competition and the Primary team started the day off with a bang by winning the Gold medal! They performed fantastically to achieve the gold medal over some very tough competition. The Junior team also competed brilliantly to obtain the silver medal just behind the hosts Newcastle. Congratulations to all gymnasts competing. 

BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIPS GLOUCESTER

With all three teams qualified for the National Championships Pinewood had already shown they were a very strong team gym club. In the Primary section the Munchkin team, coached by Chiara Pelizzari and Jeff Saunders achieved the silver medal. A fantastic achievement, WELL DONE!!!

The Junior Dream Team coached by Stuart Woods and Jeff Saunders had a very good competition also capturing the silver medal. The team competed very consistently and was only a small margin from the Gold medal and should be very proud of their achievements.

Finally, it was left to the Senior Mixed team also coached by Stuart Woods to Capture the Gold medal and complete Pinewood's fantastic achievements. Congratulations to all coaches and Gymnasts.

SOUTHERN TOURNAMENT TEAM GYM

JUNIOR AND SENIOR CHAMPIONS!!!

Congratulations to all those you competed at the Southern Region Team Gym competition 2007  Pinewood came away with 2 Gold's (Senior Mixed and Junior Women's) and 1 Silver (Primary Women's). A fantastic achievement for Pinewood and confirms us as one of the best Team Gym clubs in the country! Well done to all coaches: Jeff Saunders (Head of Team Gym), Stuart Woods (Junior Team and Choreographer), Chiara Pelizzari (Munchkins Team), Peter Tranckle (Senior Team).

GRADE 1 NATIONAL FINALS BIRMINGHAM

Pinewood Gymnastics Club had 2 girls competing at the grade 1 national finals. Alice Hyde performed extremely well to finish 14th in the U15 category. This was a highly contested age group and saw girls competing exceptional routines. The second performer Pinewood had was Charlotte Thomas who placed 18th in the U17 category. A fantastic achievement for the girls and coach Elaine Whyte.

Grade 1 Birmingham

Pinewood has 3 gymnasts in the first grade 1 of the season. The competition was very successful with Charlotte Thomas obtaining the retaining score for Grade 1 in her first competition!!! Alice Hyde competed very well and placed 15th in the U13 category. Pinewood's Rebekah McVittie finished 14th (U19).
